About course
During the training, participants will gain knowledge in public service design using the Design Thinking (DT) methodology. Theoretical tools and knowledge will be tested in practice during the DT process of designing a public service on a selected topic. The work stages will correspond to the individual steps of the method – empathy, definition, ideation, prototyping, and testing.
A necessary and noticeable action is transforming the way public administration operates towards design thinking, especially in the planning, design, and implementation of modern public services. High-quality innovative services in culture, education, spatial planning, healthcare, and other areas improve the quality of life of residents. Currently, there is a noticeable lack of readiness within public administration structures to transition towards a culture of prototyping and the creative implementation of innovative solutions due to a lack of prepared staff. The aim of the training is therefore to build competencies that will lead to a transformation in the way we think about public service design.

Program
Participants are asked to reflect on, write down in notes, and send to the instructors three days before the training the topics/challenges/projects they have recently been working on or will be working on at work.
From among the topics submitted by participants, those will be selected for discussion during the workshops.

Complete an empathy map for each interview.
To continue working on the challenge, we need a minimum of 3-5 interviews, meaning 3-5 completed empathy maps. If the group did not complete enough interviews during the course, we encourage them to complete the task before the second day of training.

Rules
Warning The course consists of three in-person meetings: October 26, 27, and 28. The sessions will take place at the Main Building of Gdańsk University of Technology from 8:00 AM to 5:15 PM. During the meetings, there will be two coffee breaks and a lunch break.
